Norway Seafoods, Fjordland and TINE have agreed to develop a new product category in the grocery sector. These major food manufacturers will provide daily supplies of fresh-packed fish, under the trademark Marian, to some 4,200 grocery outlets all over Norway.

The joint venture agreement has a great potential, including the European market.

Norway Seafoods has the biggest white fish fleet in Norway, and a substantial part of the production is frozen and processed for export markets.

"A Fjordland TINE joint venture enables us to prioritise fresh fish, which has a higher profit margin than frozen products," sayd Mr Leif Arne Langøy, chairman of the board of Norway Seafoods and president and CEO of Aker ASA. "If the market is ready for it, we, Fjordland and TINE will be able to supply the entire Scandinavian and, eventually, European markets with fresh top-quality fish," Mr Langøy says.

"Truly a day to remember. We have invested a lot in the development of Marian, and Norway Seafoods now guarantee us fresh, top-quality fish 364 days a year," says managing director Arne Tornås of Fjordland.
