ILLANTE S.L. has launched the Hydrocarbon Separator SKIT/S.

To fully comply with MARPOL regulations, vessels and ships are not allowed to discharge water with an oil content higher than 15 ppm.

The SKIT Hydrocarbon Separator, manufactured by RWO in Germany, meets the demands of the resolutions IMO MEPC 60(33), obtaining less than 1 ppm in every test. More than 5000 SKIT separators have been installed to the date. The SKIT/S combine gravitational separation with a coalescent filter.

The system pumps the bilge water with a helicoidal pump, and due to the difference in densities between water and oil, the first separation is made.

The second part of the process is done through a porous coalescent, with an oily surface, which separates small oil drops from the water. The oil level is controlled by a sensor.

After the discharge, the unit is cleaned automatically with sea water, eliminating the suspended solids.

The automatism of the discharge and the cleaning helps with the machine equipment and allows a continued work.

SKIT/S Separators have been installed in fishing vessels, ferries, container vessels, oil vessels, oil platforms, FPSO, and shipyards, including those in ports.

The treatment capacities go from 100 litres per hour, to 10 m3/hour.
