Thrane & Thrane has completed development of several new SAILOR mini-C terminals, which are based on the recently introduced Thrane & Thrane SAILOR 6110 mini-C for GMDSS use.

The new SAILOR 6140 and SAILOR 6150 have both been designed primarily to enable fishing vessels to meet the growing demands for reporting within the structure of national vessel monitoring schemes.
Today, it is mandatory for fishing vessels in more than 40 countries around the world to carry satellite tracking equipment.
The SAILOR 6140 and SAILOR 6150 provide the reliability and functionality to meet all vessel monitoring requirements including data reporting, vessel monitoring system, geofencing and two-way messaging. Additionally, the SAILOR 6150 also offers Non-SOLAS distress functionality and the reception of EGC messages and SafetyNet/FleetNet, which provides a significant boost to the safety of vessel and crew.
The SAILOR 6140 and SAILOR 6150 terminals are self-contained and sealed, housing both antenna and transceiver. This design approach has proven to be rugged and reliable especially for use aboard the harsh environment of a professional fishing vessel and with the use of a 50 channel GPS module and high gain omni-directional antenna, satellite fix and position are highly reliable, ensuring vessels can meet reporting requirements even under the most adverse conditions.
Both terminals share a number of new features and include the advanced new Terminal Control Unit (TCU) (Thrane 6194 – option on the 6140), which is the key connection point in the system. The TCU has a range of LEDs that allow operators to quickly determine system status such as power, Inmarsat log-in and GPS fix. Status is indicated by the alert and test buttons respectively. Additionally, both terminals come complete with all cables and connectors included, making them ready to go out of the box. The standard connection cable to the mini-C terminal is 30m long, but can be extended using NMEA2K mini-cable and the included NMEA2K field connector.
The new SAILOR 6140 and SAILOR 6150 mini-C terminals utilise a new network protocol called ThraneLINK, which offers benefits in integration, maintenance and operation. Both terminals may be operated using the advanced new SAILOR 6006 touch screen message terminal. Thrane & Thrane has also introduced the SAILOR 6120 SSA System and SAILOR 6130 LRIT, which have been designed for use in the merchant and offshore marine sectors.
