EU customers demand seafood transparency

A new Oceana poll shows overwhelming support among consumers in Belgium, France, Spain and Cyprus for expanded information on processed seafood, with 84% of respondents calling for greater transparency

While EU consumers are generally informed about fresh and frozen seafood, they often lack critical details when it comes to processed products like canned tuna, fish fingers and surimi, especially when dining out.

Oceana is calling for the mandatory disclosure of species, origin, fishing gear and production methods for all seafood products.
