Through her work at Matís and the University of Iceland Hildur has had the opportunity to participate in various projects throughout the years with a varied focus and gotten the chance to cooperate with researchers from varied backgrounds and to supervise students of different fields. Her main research focus relates to utilisation and quality of seafood and marine products with the aim of maintaining or improving product quality and testing and implementing potential methods for further utilisation and valorisation of previously under valorised material or side raw material. The overall aim of the work is to explore ways in which we, as a society, can better use the material we harvest in a sustainable and practical way.
