Kælismiðjan Frost and the fish farming company Arctic Fish have signed an agreement for Frost to design and deliver a fully equipped cooling system for ice and fluid Ice production and sea cooling as well as raw material cooling for Arctic Fish’s new salmon processing plant in Bolungarvík.
Guðmundur Hannesson, managing director of Kælismiðjan Frosts, says that this is a complete solution that is fully designed by Frost. Delivery of all equipment to the salmon processing plant is expected in the second half of this year, and installation and commissioning of the equipment will take place in the first quarter of 2023.
The new Arctic Fish processing plant in the port area of Bolungarvík will be taken into use next year. In the future, it is estimated that about 50 thousand tons will be processed annually.
“We at Frost are very pleased with the trust we have been shown with this agreement. The company’s many years of experience and knowledge in the production of ice, fluid ice and sea cooling with maximum efficiency and quality as a guiding principle are of great importance to our customers. The design has already begun and will be executed in our offices in Akureyri and Garðabær. The equipment will be built in the autumn and we expect its installation in Bolungarvík to take two to three months, “says Guðmundur in an announcement from the company.
“It is crucial to ensure the freshness and quality of products during slaughter and the entire processing process. Therefore, the choice had to be made carefully and it was ensured that all designs and equipment were in accordance with the requirements and expectations of Arctic Fish. We are very pleased to have chosen Frost as a partner in this large development project with us in Bolungarvík, “says Stein Ove Tveiten, CEO of Arctic Fish.
