This new 70-meter research vessel, designed by Skipasyn, will replace Bjarni Sæmundsson’s ER 1970, 55-meter Research Vessel (RV). This RV will have the ability to run various fishing gear and provide facilities for different sampling and measurements at sea.

MFRI is known in the research community for its high-quality equipment. This new vessel was designed with great focus on the environment and leading technology. All means were assessed and applied to reduce the use of fossil fuels to save energy for this vessel.

It is therefore a great honor for Naust Marine to be able to contribute to reducing the environmental impact, by supplying sophisticated electric winches. These winches will produce zero emissions so as not to contribute to air pollution, no hydraulic fluid spills or fires, less environmental noise and vibrations, and higher efficiency.
