The 2024 Fish Waste for Profit conference gets underway in Reykjavik on Thursday 19th September 2024,

This year’s conference title is “Transforming the Blue Economy to 100% Green” and the conference will build on its past four editions, discussing, debating and learning about the steps the industry is taking towards full utilisation of 100% fish, including by-products and the use of AI. 

The conference will get off to a fascinating start with an in-depth look at collaboration and the forming of Impactful partnerships for full utilisation. Speakers include Alexandra Leeper PhD, Managing Director - International, Iceland Ocean Cluster and David Naftzger, Executive Director, Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers.

The following session is entitled “Emerging 100% Fish Value Chain/Opportunities” and will discuss growing emerging opportunities linked closely to partnerships in the circular economy and opportunities that connect land and sea and cross sector. Moderated by Alexandra Leeper PhD, Managing Director - International, Iceland Ocean Cluster speakers are Stefán Þór Eysteinsson Ph.D, Research Group Leader, Matis; Cem Giray, CEO and President, Salmonics LLC; Petra Weigl, Managing Director, Europe, Regal Springs Europe GmbH and Rune Frostad, CEO, Pretio. 

The second session of Day One will offer advice and experience on moving from the research phase to bringing a product to market. It will be moderated by David Naftzger, Executive Director, Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers. 

Day One will round off with an exciting look at the future technology that will enable the Fish Waste for Profit industry to progress at pace. Moderated by expert Thor Sigfusson, Founder and Chairman, Iceland Ocean Cluster the session will cover AI, digital technology, applications in commercial fishing/aquaculture by-product production, Automation and processing technologies and trends in market demands and consumer needs.
