The opening session of the two-day conference, being held in Reykjavik from Thursday 19th to Friday 20th September 2024, will consider how collaborative partnerships can drive full utilisation and will examine global collaborations that are making 100% fish impactful.
Kristian S. Ottesen has a fascinating background and will bring fresh insight and pioneering spirit to the panel. With a Master of Science in Strategy, Organization & Leadership from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and a Bachelor of Science in Chinese Language and Business Administration Kristian headed to China where he honed his expertise in strategic outsourcing and production management within the dynamic garment industry.
He returned to Denmark and plunged into the food sector, driven by a passion for innovation. As a trailblazer in the burgeoning seaweed industry, he was among the first to bring this sustainable resource to a commercial level in the Northern European market.
His dedication to developing groundbreaking seafood products caught the attention of Royal Greenland, where he now plays a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of unexplored side streams from traditional seafood production. Kristian’s mission is to transform these overlooked resources into high-value products, advocating for full utilization and redefining the industry’s sustainability standards.
Royal Greenland, which is owned by the Greenlandic Government, has a wealth of competences, cultures, knowledge and accumulated experience in the fishing industry, bringing wild-caught, high-quality seafood from the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean to consumers around the globe. It is a “Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court”, holding the special Royal Warrant to supply the Royal Household.
