Bythos Biotech, CEO and co-founder

Broni Hornsby

Broni has worked for many years in Sicily in the field of EU-funded research and collaboration projects, mainly focusing on innovation in agro-environmental and Circular Economy systems. One of the international projects which was particularly important for the Region of Sicily sought to kick start a new value chain using side steams from the fisheries sector. This then led to Broni setting up the hi-tech startup Bythos Biotech with Co-founder and chief scientific officer.

The startup offers consultancy for both the private and public sector in the Mediterranean for transition towards 100% fish use and is in the scaleup stage for the production of bioactive ingredients for human and animal health using side steams from local industry.

The startup collaborates closely with research groups and is working towards entering the higher added-value biomedical industry.

Broni brings a background of Economics, Sustainability and Linguistics from the UK and the Co-founder has vast research experience from Italy in the field of animal biology, the fisheries sector and the extraction of bioactive ingredients.
