With only a few weeks to go, the exhibition is now down to the last few remaining stands, and according to Events Director Marianne Rasmussen Coulling, the number of exhibiting companies from Iceland and international industry is up by 41% from last show. New international exhibitors include shipyards Astilleros Armon from Spain and the Cemre Shipyard from Turkey, netting companies Siang May from Singapore and Fibras Industriales from Peru, plus reduction gear specialist Reintjes which has a reputation around the world and which has been supplying the Icelandic fleet for more than fifty years.
"Plenty of activities will surround the exhibition, including the official opening by the Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture and the Mayor of Kópavogur on the 13th of September, the awards reception at Gerðarsafn on the first night of the show, and match-making meetings during Day One that bring together buyers and sellers at the same table, and co-ordinated by Innovation Iceland.
On Day Two, the second Fish Waste for Profit conference will take place with overseas delegates already signed up, and the final day will see the second award of the Icelandic Fisheries Bursary awards to this year's two winners to continue their studies in Fisktækniskólinn in Grindavík this autumn.
"We can't forget the World Seafood Congress taking place at the Harpa Conference and Concert Hall, which precedes Icefish and will bring all of its delegates from Reykjavík straight to Icefish to the official opening on the 13th," she said.
