Icefish's organisers strive to both improve Icefish from event to event, but also re-invest money into the local fishing sector, and the creation of a bursary award is a great example of this.
The awards themselves will be aimed at people wanting to seek further education within the fishing industry. A committee is being put together this year from members of key Icelandic fishing organisations to set the criteria in which the recipients will be chosen against. Further details are due to be released shortly here on the website as well as via Icefish's media channels, which include Twitter and LinkedIn.
As well as the new Bursary Awards, the 7th Icelandic Fisheries Awards whill also take place in 2017. The Awards were first introduced in 1999 to recognise and award excellence in the Icelandic and International Fishing Industry, and the stature of this event has grown over the years. The awards are hotly contested and are now truly seen as an accolade with winners using their success in the Awards to promote their company and products.
A limited number of prestigious sponsorship opportunities will be available for the 2017 Awards ceremony, which offer the perfect opportunity to promote your brand in the run up to the event and also on the night.
