"This continues the very good co-operation we have had already with the Hvide Sande Shipyard in Denmark, which is currently building a 26 metre combination netter/flyshooter for owners in Iceland," said BP Shipping's Björgvin Ólafsson. "The new Hafborg will be delivered around New Year and will be ahead of schedule. The longliner designs have been prepared for clients in Scandinavia, with one client considering a pair of 43 metre fresher longliners, and another interested in a 47 metre freezer vessel."
"BP Shipping has a long track record as both a shipbroker handling sales of existing tonnage, as well as working with yards in Turkey, Poland, Chile and now Denmark to deliver newbuilds. We have also acted as brokers for the 70 metre ferry now being built for the Icelandic government at the Crist Shipyard in Poland, which will renew the vital sea link between the mainland and the Westmann Islands."
"We recently brokered the sale of HB Grandi's freezer trawler Therney, built at Sterkoder in 1992, to Sea Harvest in South Africa, and we also sold the coastal trawler Dröfn from Iceland to Guinea-Bissau. That was an interesting venture, as while their waters are heavily fished, this is the first local fishing venture in the country. We organised the boat's refit in Las Palmas, sourced the fishing gear and arranged for the refrigeration system to be fitted."
"IceFish is an important event for us and one that we have taken part in for many years. This is where we can see a lot of our clients from Iceland and overseas," he said.
