The first conference, titled ‘Cooperation and Conflicts in Fisheries' takes place on 26 September 2014 and is organised by the Institute of Economic Studies Iceland and is sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The conference will take a view on current and future cooperation between different stakeholders in fisheries, including governments, research organisations and the industry.
The second conference, titled ‘Coastal fisheries and coastal communities in the North-Atlantic' will take place on 27 September and will cover the following topics:
- Social, economic and environmental issues affecting coastal fisheries and communities in the North-Atlantic and Nordic region
- Analysis of Nordic coastal communities, including Labrador and Newfoundland
- The role of the coastal sector in the national economy
