Slippurinn DNG and the Norwegian company Brunvoll AS have announced a new cooperative agreement between the two companies. Through the deal, confirmed at the Icelandic Fisheries, Seafood & Aqua Exhibition (IceFish), Slippurinn DNG becomes the new agent for Brunvoll in Iceland and will handles sales of Brunvoll’s products, spare parts and maintenance services.
Founded in 1912, Brunvoll specialises in the production of propellers, gear and control equipment for ships, with many Icelandic fishing companies choosing Brunvoll equipment for their vessels over the years.
Brunvoll Sales Manager Stig Helland explained that the company has a history of good collaboration with customers in the Icelandic fishing industry and that the market is a very important one for the business.
Looking ahead with Slippurinn DNG as Brunvoll’s new agent and partner in Iceland, he remarked: “We are looking at both the sale of equipment and spare parts, but not least, we see Slippurinn DNG’s great strength in servicing the users of our equipment, and that is a very important factor for us.”
Helland continued: “Slippurinn DNG is known as an experienced company in the shipping industry and has knowledge of all aspects of it. At Brunvoll, we are therefore very pleased with this collaboration, which is both useful for our equipment users in Iceland, and also the location in Akureyri is very good in terms of services to fishing companies from the countries here in the Arctic, including Norwegian companies that use our equipment.”
Bjarni Pétursson, head of Slippurinn DNG’s ship services, said the collaboration with Brunvoll is a big step forward for the company.
“Brunvoll is a very large and world-renowned manufacturer with extensive expertise in propellers, gears and control equipment, which further strengthens us in the shipping service. Our employees’ field of knowledge is further expanded with the introduction of this collaboration and we have, for example, already had employees on courses at Brunvoll in Norway.”
Pétursson also highlighted Brunvoll’s “extensive” fishing industry connections around the world, and said he expects Slippurinn DNG’s network to expand significantly through the collaboration.
“I believe that this is a great benefit for our customers in Iceland and abroad and an important step forward for Slippurinn DNG’s vessel services,” he said.
Slippurinn DNG has also confirmed that it has sold 20 of its DNG R1 jigging machines at IceFish 2024.
